Forget what the history books told you about the American Revolution and learn about the significant role rum played in starting the Revolution. Colonists loved their rum and were believed to consume 3.7 gallons per person on an annual basis. Laborers and voters were often rewarded with rum imported from the Caribbean or made in one of the hundreds of distilleries that existed throughout the colonies. After losing the only election he would ever lose in 1757, George Washingtons agents secured his next election by giving out over 28 gallons of rum, 50 gallons of rum punch, 46 gallons of beer, 34 gallons of wine and, just for good measure, two gallons of hard cider. Come learn about the history of this spirit that ties New England to the Caribbean by touring historic taverns in Lexington, tasting rum-based drinks and cocktails, and celebrating both the Inn's and DBDC's strong ties to the home of some of the best rums in the world--Puerto Rico, all while staying at the luxurious Inn at Hastings Park, Boston's only Relais & Chateaux property.
